Kiwi Plum by Mariah Woodson #Guestie

Hey Everyone,

Today I am so excited to introduce my special #Guestie, great friend and fashion designer Mariah Woodson!  Mariah has recently launched her new line of fabulous swimwear called Kiwi Plum and I am so excited to hear all about her designs, photo shoot and inspiration.

Let’s get started!

SEEMA STYLE:   What is your favorite fashion brand?

MARIAH WOODSON:  My favorite fashion brand right now is TOPSHOP! It’s so fun, flirty, and versatile at affordable prices!

SEEMA STYLE:  What is your favorite sports fashion brand?

MARIAH WOODSON:  Hmmm, that’s a tough one! My top two sport brands are Nike and Adidas for sure! But, I buy a bit more Nike products, so I guess Nike wins!

SEEMA STYLE:  Did either of these brands inspire your designs in Kiwi Plum!

MARIAH WOODSON:  Of course! The versatility of styles that TopShop offers definitely inspired my designing process. I also included a couple of athletic pieces to my line, thanks Nike!

SEEMA STYLE:  What inspired you to create a swim wear line? What is your messaging behind your line?

MARIAH WOODSON:  A crazy and scary personal experience drove me down this journey of creating my swimwear line! I will share my story on launch day, so stay tuned! The message behind my line is to love your body’s story, for it tells an alluring story! Wherever you are in your journey throughout life, Kiwi Plum has you covered.

SEEMA STYLE:  You recently did a photo shoot for your new line! How did you select your models and how excited were you to see everything come together?

MARIAH WOODSON:  Oh my gosh I was SO excited! I didn’t even sleep the night before the photoshoot, I was so anxious. But, all of my models were daughters and sons of former NBA Players! I knew most of the models, being that most of us grew up with each other. I thought it would be so fun for all of us to shoot for my line. And it totally was. Every model looked absolutely stunning. Success!

SEEMA STYLE:  What is your favorite color?

MARIAH WOODSON:  My all time favorite color is lavender!

SEEMA STYLE:  How important is health and fitness to you?

MARIAH WOODSON: Health and fitness is SO important to me. I just feel better when I eat healthy, and after a good sweat. I recently started practicing hot yoga, and I am in LOVE! It’s the best full body workout I have ever done. I have been an athlete my entire life, and experienced various workouts. Yoga definitely takes the trophy!

SEEMA STYLE:  You have one of the most amazing families I know! How supportive are they with your line?

MARIAH WOODSON: Oh my gosh they are 110% supportive about everything I do! I have the best support system when it comes to my family and friends. Honestly, none of this could have been possible without their love and support. So thankful!

SEEMA STYLE:  Your favorite healthy snack?

MARIAH WOODSON: Kale Chips are EVERYTHING! They are my new Go-To snack. I know they might sound intimidating, but trust me, they are so tasty! Ranch flavored Kale Chips are definitely my favorite. My other favorite healthy snack is almonds with dried cranberries! The dried cranberries are perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

SEEMA STYLE:  Your favorite cheat snack?

MARIAH WOODSON:  My favorite cheat snack would have to be bbq potato chips. They are just so addicting I try to never buy them or else I will eat a family size bag all by myself!

SEEMA STYLE:  If you can give one advice to a young girl that wants to be a designer what it be?

MARIAH WOODSON:  My advice would be to LEARN the industry and your target market! Work as an assistant, or for a fashion company to get hands on experience. Read books, and gain as much knowledge as you possibly can from others. But most importantly, stay patient and positive! If this is your passion and dream, go for it!
