Today is “TouchDown Tuesday” with my friend Jonathan Ogden!
Back in my UNLV college days I met Jonathan and his beautiful family at his home course Anthem Country Club in Henderson, NV. Anthem CC was also home to our women’s golf team and we would always see Jonathan on the range working hard on his golf game!
Mr. Ogden is an NFL Hall of Famer and Superstar. His career started when he was drafted in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft and played his entire professional career for the Baltimore Ravens. It is truly an honor to have Mr. Ogden as one of my NFL Week #Guesties and I am excited to get started! So let’s go….
SEEMA STYLE: What is your favorite brands to wear on the golf course?
JONATHAN OGDEN: I like to wear a lot of Under Armour. I am a big guy and I find that they always make good shirts that fit me. I also like wearing FootJoy shoes when I am golfing, they are comfortable and have style.
SEEMA STYLE: Do you have a favorite golf accessory?
JONATHAN OGDEN: My Bushnell laser, it never lets me down.
SEEMA STYLE: What would you say is the mental difference between playing football and playing golf?
JONATHAN OGDEN: The harder you try in golf the worse you do, It’s different with football, the harder you try with football you do better.
FUN FACT: On February 2, 2013, Ogden was voted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. He is the first player to spend his entire career as a Raven.
SEEMA STYLE: Love the Raven purple color #75 Golf Cart! How many years have you had your golf cart?
JONATHAN OGDEN: I had fun customizing my #75 Raven themed golf cart and have had it for 10 years now.
SEEMA STYLE: What has been your most memorable NFL memory?
JONATHAN OGDEN: Individually being inducted into the Hall of Fame and collectively with my team winning the Super Bowl.
SEEMA STYLE: Do you have a favorite song that pumps you up before golf?
JONATHAN OGDEN: Yes, I like the “Sitting in the Hall of Fame” song…the one with Rory Mcllroy in the commercial! (The Script- feat Will.I.Am- Hall of Fame)
FUN FACT: Jonathan Ogden and Wife Kema Ogden established the Jonathan Ogden Foundation to benefit inner city schools and help student-athletes take responsibility for their futures through lessons learned on the playing field, in the classroom, and throughout their local communities.
SEEMA STYLE: Do you have a favorite candy?
JONATHAN OGDEN: Baby Ruth! You can’t go wrong with it…it’s really good!
SEEMA STYLE: How important has your family been throughout your career?
JONATHAN OGDEN: My wife Kema is my rock. She keeps me motivated everyday. I am very fortunate to have her and have a woman that has great energy and drive. I am happy to have a beautiful family.
SEEMA STYLE: Do you want to get your daughter into golf?
JONATHAN OGDEN: I want her to enjoy what she chooses to do, but I want her to learn how to play golf and hopefully she will have fun with it.
SEEMA STYLE: Who is your favorite PGA Tour player?
JONATHAN OGDEN: I’m a Freddy Couples fan, I enjoy watching his golf swing and I enjoy watching the Champions Tour, as I get older it’s nice to watch all the guys from the PGA Tour play on the Champions Tour.
SEEMA STYLE: Favorite Movie?
JONATHAN OGDEN: This is a hard one, but I am going to have to go with, The Usual Suspect.
