Today is a very special day where the world recognizes Martin Luther King, Jr for his strength, courage and flight for being an activist, humanitarian and a leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. Through MLK’s activism, he played a big role in ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens in the South and other areas of the nation.

MLK Fact: MLK created the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

“I had a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of the their character” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King, Jr was assassinated in April 1968, and will continue to be remembered as one of the most impactful, inspirational and motivational African-American leaders in history. His unforgettable and life changing speech in 1963  “I Have a Dream” was made to over 250,000 civil rights supporters from the Lincoln Memorial  and was a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement!

“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
