On December 8th, 2014 My sister Nisha and I attended the Starkey Celebrity Golf Classic at the prestigious Sherwood Country Club in Thousands Oaks, California! This was the Foundations 1st Annual Golf Classic and we were extremely honored to be a part of the event and support a great cause.
“The Starkey Hearing Foundation travels the globe delivering the gift of hearing to thousands of people each year who would otherwise live in the isolation of a silent world. Providing hearing care alone does not completely dissolve the psychological barriers that continue to cause many of these children and adults to believe they are limited in ability. We stand firmly behind the belief that there is no such thing as disability, only ability. This belief guides each and every interaction we have with patients in the field. By reflecting love and care to the lives of each person we meet, we hope to send the message, “You are important. You matter. You are a part of this community and our world. You deserve a chance to reach your full potential in life.”
The opening party was hosted at a beautiful home in the LA Hills with amazing views over looking the entire city! It was a gorgeous evening with great people and great friends. Jeffrey Osborne performed a few of his songs and I was lucky to be able to sing a long with him:) “Can You Woo Woo Wooo” #MyJam
THE MISSION: “The Starkey Hearing Foundation’s mission “So the World May Hear,” is about bringing understanding between people through caring and sharing. We believe caring develops trust and by sharing we find our humanity. We believe by growing engagement in this cause that we can increase tolerance and respect for life.
Our goal is to pursue our mission with commitment so that future generations can live in a world with more caring and peace.”
Here is a cute picture of Me, Dr.J, Nisha and the hilarious Patrick Warburton at the party!
The next day we had an 11:00am shotgun start at Sherwood Country Club. Sherwood CC is one of my favorite courses to play in California. The course is as beautiful and prestine as ever and is known for hosting Tiger Woods’ Chevron World Challenge.
My group was a 6 some and the format was play your own ball taking 1 best ball gross and 1 best ball net of the team and then adding two together. I played with my friends Rohan, Jonathan, Raoul, John and Patrick Warburton!
We all shared many laughs on the course and I am so thankful to have met new amazing friends and golf partners!
I am looking forward to next year’s 2nd Annual Golf Classic next year! Special thank you to Bill Hammond, Hammond Entertainement, and the Starkey Hearing Foundation for having me and Nisha there this year!
