On September 8th, 2014 I played in the Kids In The Klinic Golf Classic hosted at the beautiful Olympic Club in San Francisco. The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry gathered many students, faculty, staff, alumni and local celebrities to play golf for a great cause, bringing in 250 golf participants for the 17th Annual Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic.
The Kids in the Klinic is a volunteer-led program designed to help underserved children in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. The mission is to raise funds to provide much-needed oral health care for children at the dental schools clinics. Many of these children do not have access to dental care and some have extreme medical problems, birth defects or other debilitating conditions.
KIDS IN THE KLINIC FACT: “According to Children Now, tooth decay is the most common chronic illness among school-age children, four times more common than childhood asthma. By kindergarten, more than 50 percent of children in California have already experienced dental decay and 28 percent have untreated decay. California students miss an estimated 874,000 days of school each year due to dental problems and children who reported having recent tooth pain were four times more likely to have a low grade point average”
I started off the event with a 5,000 dollar putting challenge to which each participant had to enter at registration! The challenge was a 30 foot, hard right to left brake and extremely fast. If you beat me at the 30 foot challenge you are entered into the finals which is a 60 foot putt against the other winning participants. If you end up making the 60 foot putt, you win the 5,000 dollars:) This challenge was so much fun! I got to meet so many of the sponsors, students and staff that do so much for Kids In The Klinic.
I was really happy to see my good friend Kim Kouwabunpat at the event! Kim came out to support Kids In The Klinic as well as Play Golf Designs Inc. our company that coordinated and managed the event. Love you Kim!
Thank you to The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and Kids In The Klinic for having me at your event! Looking forward to supporting the 18th Annual Kids In The Klinic Golf Classic next year!
