Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is known for their amazing garden!  Over Christmas they had Coca-Cola Polar Bears made of flowers and now they have the most beautiful set-up for The Chinese New Year!

The garden is beautifully manicured with colorful flowers, waterfalls and insightful Chinese facts to give their guests knowledge about the religion and holiday!

The garden also has 6 happy Chinese children dance in and around the flowers! Their colorful outfits are all handmade from fresh flowers such as carnations and an assortment of chrysanthemums!  Isn’t it absolutely beautiful?

FUN FACT: The most common Chinese ways of saying Happy New Year are Gong Xi Fa Cai in Mandarine and Gong Hey Fat Choy in Cantonese!

Seema_Style_Firecracker_BellagioIn China, the evening before Chinese New Year Day families celebrate and gather for their annual reunion dinner.  It is a tradition for families to perfectly cleanse the house and sweep away bad fortune and bring in good luck.  Windows and doors are decorated with red color paper-cuts with popular themes of “good fortune”, “happiness”, and “wealth”. Families also give members of their families money in red paper envelopes.  I remember receiving a red-envelope from a friend, and it was a sweet and kind experience.

FUN FACTS: Did you know the at Firecrackers were invented by the Chinese? Firecrackers have been a tradition for celebration for thousands of years. They are rumored to ward off evil and are a symbol of happiness and prosperity!
