Seema_Style_Csey_WittenbergHappy Guestie Day!

I’d like to introduce you to my childhood best friend Casey Wittenberg!  Casey and I grew up together and played golf at the IMG Sports Academy.  We share so many memories together on the golf course and in the classroom!  Our families lived next door to one another in Bradenton, Sarasota and every week we would watch American Idol, laugh really loud, do homework and eat fun homemade dinners! #GoodTimes

Let’s talk to Casey about Golf, Family and Fun!

SEEMA STYLE: What is your favorite brand to wear on the golf course?

CASEY WITTENBERG: Taylor Made Adidas

SEEMA STYLE: How did you get started into golf?

CASEY WITTENBERG:  My grandfather and father both played golf.  My grandfather won the National Team Championship at LSU in golf and my father played on the PGA Tour on and off for about seven years.

SEEMA STYLE: You are such a talented golfer! Having one of the most successful amateur careers, what was it like transitioning into the professional golf world?

CASEY WITTENBERG:  It was tough at first I tell people all the time the difficult thing about playing professional golf over amateur golf is the travel and the amount of time you are away from home and family. As an amateur you only play about twelve tournaments a year, but as a professional you play about thirty events, plus the practice and pro-am days, it totals up to about forty weeks away from home a year. It is tough, but it is also fun when you are playing well.

SEEMA STYLE: What is your most memorable moment in your golf career?

CASEY WITTENBERG: The best moment I have ever had in my golf career was with my father being with me at the 2004 Masters Tournament. We tied the record at that time for lowest score posted by an amateur, and I finished thirteenth. Just being able to have my father there with me, he carried my bag, it was special and something that I will never forget.

SEEMA STYLE: You have a beautiful wife Haley and an amazing family, how important is family to you and your career?

CASEY WITTENBERG: Family is everything to me!  My wife Haley is truly my angel from above, she is my life organizer and my daily motivator. I would be lost without her. I have always enjoyed playing for myself, but I have enjoyed so much more this past year playing to support my family. My mom and dad have always been supportive and understanding of what it takes, and now being married I have an even bigger support system.

SEEMA STYLE: If you could play 18 holes with one person who’s not a golfer, who would it be?

CASEY WITTENBERG: Nick Saban, I have always respected his success and his preparation. I feel like a big part of being a successful professional golfer is preparation and I know Nick would have some great advice for me on that front.

SEEMA STYLE: What song do you listen to before you get on the course to pump you up? Favorite Artist?

CASEY WITTENBERG: “I’m Me” by Lil Wayne

SEEMA STYLE: Favorite NBA Team?

CASEY WITTENBERG: My favorite NBA team is the Memphis Grizzles

SEEMA STYLE: Favorite NFL Team?

CASEY WITTENBERG: My favorite NFL team is the San Diego Chargers

SEEMA STYLE:  If you could give one positive piece of advice to an up and coming athlete what it be?

CASEY WITTENBERG:  Be true to yourself! Set your own goals and dreams and don’t listen to all the white noise around you. The most difficult thing about being a professional athlete is all the outside advice and goals you get from others. Everybody thinks they know whats best for you, but as an athlete you need to listen to your heart and take advice only from the people that truly want you to succeed not the ones that are in it for their own celebrity.

Thank you Casey!  Wishing you all the birdies and all the success for the 2014 Season!
