Hi Everyone! You can “woo – woo – woo” with me and Jeffrey because the weekend is here!
This weekend I am leaving to Rhode Island to play in Jeffrey Osborne’s Charity Golf Event! I wanted to get you better acquainted with my Bestie-Guestie Jeffrey, his golf, style, music and how he gives back before we hit the links! Here we go! 🙂
Seema Style: What is your favorite brand and color to wear on the golf course?
Jeffrey Osborne: I’ve been a Nike fan since I can remember. I’m also a huge Tiger Woods fan too. I like wearing blue, not navy blue, but something a little darker than the UCLA color blue, it goes well with my skin tone. I also like wearing white in the summer time its cooling and also goes well with my skin tone.
Seema Style: Do you have any favorite golf accessories?
Jeffrey Osborne: My Silver Teddy Bear, Credit Card and Cheeseburger from Seema, she gave them to me when we play golf together! I make a lot more putts with her ball markers. I also like to have my black and orange Callaway Nikon Laser. I like to know my exact yardages when I’m playing golf.
Seema Style: Tell me about the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic? What is your mission for your golf tournament?
Jeffrey Osborne: This is my second annual golf tournament last August was my first inaugural event. My mission is to give back to my state. I also want to give back to the youth. My mission with the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic will be to benefit non-profit organizations who support music and the arts to children and their families. We also provide a safe-haven for families in need, and music- and art-based scholarships. We have a humanitarian award for those deserving individuals and organizations. Participating charities include Amos House, Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, The MET Center and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School. It is pretty cool to bring everyone together.
Seema Style: You’re such an inspiration! You also have a basketball event prior to your golf event? Tell me about the basketball event?
Jeffrey Osborne: It’s a celebrity basketball event for all the local celebrities in Rhode Island. We have a lot of fun and it’s another avenue to raise money for my charities. This year Magic Johnson will coach a team and either Doc Rivers or Michael Woodson will coach the other team. It will make for a lot of entertainment and will be great for the locals to come out, cheer, and support both teams and the charities.
Seema Style: The basketball event sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait to play in it!! I am planning my outfits for each part of your event! Will you be performing?
Jeffrey Osborne: I will, last year I performed 3 of my songs and had my other celebrity singers like Eddie Lavert from The OJays and Smokey Robinson perform as well! It’s unlike any other reception we all just jam and enjoy each others music and company. I had Magic Johnson dancing last year and we just had a great time. This year I am going to do something a little different, Pat Reily gave me a great idea to have a “Woo Woo Woo” contest I am not sure what the prize for the best “Woo Woo Woo” singer is going to be yet but I am sure we will have a great time and some good laughs again this year.
Seema Style: Who would you chose to be in your dream 4 some?
Jeffrey Osborne: That’s a good question. I would definitely have you playing, Tiger Woods, and Samuel Jackson.
Seema Style: YAY! That’s a fun foursome! Do you have a favorite song?
Jeffrey Osborne: There are so many songs that I like, it’s hard to choose one, but if I had to, I would say……. All Is Fair In Love by Stevie Wonder, I like this song lyrically, his performances are always great and I could listen to this song over and over again.
Seema Style: How many performances do you do a year?
Jeffrey Osborne: I have slowed down a lot over the years, I do anywhere between 75 to 100 performances.
Seema Style: How do you prepare yourself before going on stage to perform?
Jeffrey Osborne: I try and prepare myself more mentally. I do a lot of tongue trilling exercises that clears my throat and this really works for me. A lot of people don’t realize that after performing for several hours it’s important to also warm down by doing the same trilling exercises. Before I perform I like to also take a little peak at the audience just to feel the vibe!
Seema Style: How do you prepare yourself before going to play 18 holes?
Jeffrey Osborne: I start off by doing a few stretches to get my body warmed up. I have to hit at least a small bucket of balls to give me some good momentum. I always start with my wedges and move up my bag. I always end my warm up session with my Driver because it’s the first club I usually hit off the tee. If I have time before my tee time I will roll a few putts on the putting green!
